The Sinclair Gallery is proud to present five of artist, illustrator and instructor Nicholas David Andersons still life paintings.
Nicholas David Anderson, born 1979 and currently based in Norfolk, England, is a classically trained realist artist, illustrator and instructor. Nick was Inspired by the work produced at the ARC accredited Academy of Realist Art, Toronto, and this combined with his love for Canada, encouraged Nick to travel there and begin the long, arduous, but thoroughly informative journey through the modern Atelier system. This is based on the teachings in the schools of the 19 th century French Academies. Nick is now a graduate of the Academy of Realist Art, Toronto.
Upon his return to the United Kingdom, Nick was delighted to have the opportunity to join Ewan McNaughton, founder of the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art and assist him in the teaching of a new generation of advocates for the realist, representational style of painting and drawing. During his teaching days, Nick met and was further inspired by notable and distinguished artists such as Juliette Aristides, Joshua LaRock, Susan Lyons and Scott Burdick.
His passion is not simply for the creation and teaching of painting but understanding the importance of good practice in painting. This naturally involves a zeal for knowledge on the Old Masters, “who have left us not simply beautiful paintings, but clear examples of good practice”
Nick strongly believes that those Masters who have work that has sadly not stood the test of time,
provide us with important lessons which we can instil to prevent this happening in the future. Unfortunately, Nick feels that much of this knowledge is no longer being taught, and many contemporary artworks are being commissioned with unsound methods, and therefore destined for
oblivion in a short time.
